2017-18 (Sophomore): Capped off a strong second season with an excellent week at the PSAC Championships…placed in three of his four individual events at the PSAC Championships, reaching the “A” finals in the 200-yard breaststroke…finished eighth in the 200 breaststroke, ninth in the 100 breaststroke and 14th in the 400 IM…also represented the Raiders in the 200 IM at the conference meet…established new collegiate bests in both breaststroke events at the PSAC Championships, ranking fifth and seventh all-time at SU with his performances…contributed to the 400-medley relay at the PSAC Championships…served as the Raider pacesetter in both breaststroke events for the seasosn…achieved three collegiate bests overall at the conference meet.
2016-17 (Freshman): Debuted with the Raiders as a versatile swimmer in multiple specialty-stroke events…qualified for the ‘B’ finals of the 200-yard breaststroke at the PSAC Championships, placing 15th…competed at the PSAC Championships in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard IM, 400-yard IM, contributed to a PSAC place-winning performance with the 400-yard medley relay…posted the top SU time of the season in the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard breaststroke.
2015-16 (Freshman): Attended the University of Rhode Island, where he continued to compete for his local club in swimming.
South Kingstown High School: Competed for the Rebels under head coach Chris Hague…earned All-State Second Team and All-Division Second Team honors in the 100 breaststroke as a senior…registered an All-Division First Team performance in the event as a junior…achieved All-Division Second Team honors in the 200 IM as a freshman and junior…thrived on the club circuit with the Shawmut Aquatic Club under coach John Dillion.
About Hamel: Full name is Callum James Hamel…is the son of James and Carole Hamel…majoring in mechanical engineering while seeking a minor in mathematics…has a sister, Erin, and a brother, Gavin.
