Penncrest High School: Merton was a four-year varsity letterwinner for the Lions under head coach Mark Clark. She earned All-Delco Second Team honors as a junior and senior in addition to honorable mention as a sophomore, primarily playing right side and serving as a defensive specialist. In addition to her volleyball success, Merton was an outstanding javelin thrower who finished second at districts and seventh in states as a senior, earning All-Delco First Team honors. In her junior year, Merton was a district and state finalist in the javelin. She also competed for the Liberty Belle Volleyball Club under head coach Jen Constantino.

Personal: Ashley Marie Merton is the daughter of Stanley R. and Carol A. Merton. Her intended major is criminal justice. She has a sister, Nicole, who plays volleyball. Merton will also be a javelin thrower for the SU outdoor track and field team.
