SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team was unlucky to come away without a result after a strong showing against perennial Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division-power Millersville in a league clash Wednesday under the lights at David See Field, 1-0.

Shippensburg (2-4-3, 1-4-0 PSAC East) was on the front foot against Millersville (8-2-1, 4-1-0) for large stretches of the match and twice hit the frame of the Marauder goal. SU outshot the Marauders 5-to-4 in the second half and maintained a 4-to-2 edge in corner kicks throughout the full 90 minutes.

The first half was highlighted by a season-best performance from Ryan Krumenacker in the Raider goal. Millersville fired 10 first-half shots (14 overall) at the SU goalkeeper, and Krumenacker was up to the task, collecting six first-half saves.

The Marauders finally solved the SU defense in the 30th minute. Forward Zander Leik ran onto a well-weighted through ball from teammate Matias Schmidt and slotted it past Krumenacker for the breakthrough.

The Raiders battled back and hit the woodwork 11 minutes later. Coy Rush created space on the right wing and zipped a left-footed cross across the face of goal. Anthony Weekley got on the end of it, heading it down and off the post, just inches away from leveling the score.

Shippensburg again nearly scored five minutes into the second half. A corner kick from Evan Brandt was met by a towering header from Zachary Haynie that caromed off the crossbar.

Drew Jones and Brian O'Neill each posted two shots on goal for Millersville.

Krumenacker matched his season high with seven total saves – the third time he has recorded seven saves in nine total outings.

The Raiders return to David See Field Saturday to take on Lock Haven at 4:30 p.m.
