SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team opened the 2026-27 season in style Wednesday night, winning six individual events and both relays in a 146.5-113.5 victory over Kutztown in action at Donald N. Miller Pool.
Bookend victories in the relays were impactful for the Raiders on the night.
Ezekiel Eberly,
Josh Einolf,
Alex Kissinger and
Robbie Ferlick commenced the proceedings with a winning time of 1:37.16 in the 200-yard medley relay.
Mason Koeth, Ferlick, Eberly and
Connor Ludwig concluded the meet with a time of 1:28.69 in the 50-yard freestyle relay.
In between, Eberly, Koeth and Einolf each won a pair of events. Eberly opened eyes with a time of 23.96 seconds in the 50-yard backstroke and followed that up with a victorious time of 52 seconds flat in the 100-yard backstroke that was one of six efforts on the night by the Raiders that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships automatic qualifying standard.
Koeth won the 200-yard freestyle with a PSAC cut of 1:45.98 and later emerged triumphant in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.45. Einolf took the 100-yard butterfly in a PSAC cut of 52.19 seconds and came back later to swim 23.66 seconds in the 50-yard butterfly.
SU went 1-2-3 in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke. Kissinger took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a PSAC cut of 53.12 seconds while
Joe Herman swam third in 54.40 seconds. Herman was also the runner-up to Einolf in the 50-yard butterfly after swimming 24.47 seconds.
Koeth was the runner-up to Eberly in the 100-yard backstroke with a PSAC cut of 54.02 seconds;
Kye Winslow finished third.
Ian Deck was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1000-yard freestyle.
Ethan Dismuke joined him in each event and placed third in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Mason Hockenberry took third in the 50-yard freestyle and was the Raider pacesetter in the 50-yard breaststroke.
Cooper Mercer swam in both breaststroke events and the 200-yard IM, while
Luke Roettger competed in the 50-yard butterfly and the 100-yard freestyle.
Shippensburg is back in action at home in nine days when it hosts Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg for a tri-meet at Donald N. Miller Pool.
