The Shippensburg University men's soccer team rode a dominant offensive effort to a shutout victory over Lackawanna College Wednesday afternoon on the road, 3-0.
Shippensburg (2-2-3) dictated tempo and saw the bulk of the possession against Lackawanna (0-6-2), netting goals from
Nate Herb,
Maddox Davies and
Cam Henry.
The Raiders registered a 20-to-6 advantage in total shots, including an 8-to-2 edge in shots on goal in the contest.
Herb started the scoring early with a goal on an SU corner kick in the seventh minute, getting a boot to a
John Trigg delivery at the back post.
The second goal was the result of a 58th minute penalty kick. After a Lackawanna defender clattered into
Anthony Weekley in the box, Davies stepped up the spot and sent the Falcons keeper the wrong direction, rolling the ball into the bottom right corner to double the Raider lead.
The third and final Raider goal was a beauty from the run of play.
Ethan Omondi began the sequence by winning the ball back from Lackawanna in the midfield and finding
Zachary Haynie down the left wing.
The shifty Haynie uncorked several Cruyff turns to find an opening for a low cross down that was gathered by Henry and smacked into the roof of the Lackawanna net.
Ryan Krumenacker was hardly tested in the Raider net, earning the shutout win on just two saves.
Next up, the Raiders travel to East Stroudsburg Saturday for a 1 p.m. first kick.
