SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team held East Stroudsburg to a level 1-1 score in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division clash on Family Day Saturday at David See Field.
Shippensburg (1-5-2, 0-5-1 PSAC East) followed a scoreless first half with 51st-minute goal from
Danielle Leber. East Stroudsburg later leveled the score courtesy of Sophia Lowery in the 62nd minute.
The Raider tally began with some terrific play down the right flank. After helping to win the ball in midfield, Shippensburg's
Paige Marek found the feet of teammate
Andrea Black. Black took a deft first touch to get around her mark and cut a ball back to Leber in front of goal.
Leber gave ESU keeper Ava Perrone no chance, roofing a one-time shot into the top right corner for her first collegiate goal.
Lowery used her pace 12 minutes later to even the scoreline. Maddie Lamb created the initial opening with a surging run from her position at left back. The ESU defender then sent a through ball down the center of the park for Lowery, who ran onto the ball and dribbled around the SU keeper before passing it into a wide-open net.

Kirstin Brown Saturday. She was otherwise outstanding, putting her body on the line on numerous occasions to keep the Warriors at bay. She successfully bailed out the SHIP backline following a miscue with a point blank save in the first half. She later had to be subbed out for the last few moments of the opening 45 minutes due to a cut.
Brown totaled seven stops in the contest, while Perrone registered three saves.
ESU outshot Shippensburg 19-to-seven overall, and eight-to-four in shots on goal.
Shippensburg next hosts Bloomsburg Saturday, September 26 at 1 p.m.
