SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University softball team split its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader against Shepherd Tuesday afternoon. The Raiders took Game 1, 9-1 in five innings, before the visiting Rams took Game 2, 3-0, at Robb Field.

Shippensburg (28-14, 15-9 PSAC East) totaled 14 hits on the day. Shepherd (19-19, 14-12) ended the day with 11 hits.

Reagan Bauman went 3-for-6 on the day with a pair of triples and a single.
Emilee Sullivan went 2-for-4 at the plate, with two singles. Sullivan recorded an RBI and drew a walk.

Gianna Cimino,
Caitlyn Martell,
Rilee Ehrlacher and
Leah Schwalm all added two hits apiece.

Dani Hayward got the Game 1 win in the circle for the Raiders, recording a strikeout while scattering four hits.

Shippensburg returns to action at 2 p.m. on Friday when it travels to Mansfield for a PSAC East doubleheader. Â

Game 1: SHIP 9, SHEPHERD 1 (five innings)

The Raiders capitalized in the bottom of the first inning, scoring six runs. Martell drew a leadoff walk followed by a single from Schwalm. Bauman reached based on a fielder's choice play to make the bases loaded with no outs.

Lindsey Haser drew a walk to score the first run of the day. Cimino notched an RBI single to make it 2-0. Ehrlacher then scored a pair of runs with a shot to right field to put the Raiders up by four. Sullivan followed with an RBI single, 5-0.
Sarah Sabocsik brought in the final run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to increase the lead to six.

The first six Raider batters reached in the inning as Shippensburg chased Ram starter Natalee Harvey after just eight batters.

The Rams recorded their first hit of the day in the top of the second but were unable to score.

Schwalm led off the bottom of the second with a single. The Raiders took advantage of a Ram error and scored to make it 7-0.

Shepherd saw its first run of the day in the third inning, after a pair of singles and a Shippensburg error to cut the deficit to six, 7-1.

With two outs in the bottom of the third, Sabocsik singled up the middle followed by a single from Martell. A wild pitch scored Sabocsik to make it 8-1.

Bauman started the bottom of the fourth with her first triple of the day. Haser recorded an RBI to make it 9-1.

Shepherd led off with a single in the top of the fifth, but the Raider defense retired the next three batters to end the game via run rule.

Hayward pitched all five innings for the Raiders, recording a strikeout while not walking a batter and allowing just four hits.

Schwalm went 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of singles. Ehrlacher and Haser led the team with two RBIs each. Six Raiders recorded at least one hit.

Shepherd notched its first hit of the game with a leadoff single but the Raider defense kept the runner stranded with three straight outs.

Bauman notched the first hit of the game for the Raiders, a triple with two outs. A strikeout from Shepherd ace Madelayne Ruffner ended the inning.

The Rams got on the board in the top of the second after a pair of singles to make it 1-0.

Ehrlacher recorded a double in the bottom of the second and Sullivan drew a walk, but the Raiders were unable to score.

The Shepherd lead increased in the top of the third off a single and a double to make it 2-0.

Bauman recorded her second hit of the game in the bottom of the third, a single to center field with two outs. A foul out ended the inning.

Kaira Zamadics retired three straight batters in the top of the fourth, recording her second strikeout of the day.Â

Cimino led off the bottom of the fourth with a single. Sullivan singled with two outs, but the Ram defense kept the score 2-0.

Martell recorded the last hit of the day for Shippensburg in the bottom of the fifth, a leadoff single. Two strikeouts and a fielder's choice kept the score the same.

The Rams scored their final run of the day in the top of the seventh when Samantha Colaw hit a solo home run to make it 3-0.

Zamadics went the distance in the circle for the Raiders, matching her season high with four strikeouts, walking one batter and allowing seven hits.

The Raider offense totaled six hits in the game, recording a hit in the first five innings. The Raiders had one less hit than the Rams but left eight runners on base.

Bauman led the offense with two hits, a triple and a single. Five Raiders recorded at least one hit.

Ruffner, the NFHCA Division II National Pitcher of the Week, struck out nine batters in the win for the Rams.
