The Shippensburg University lacrosse team took it to No. 5 East Stroudsburg following a slow start in a road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) setback Wednesday afternoon at Whiteknight Field, falling 18-10.

After surrendering the game's first eight goals, Shippensburg (5-9, 2-7 PSAC East) battled East Stroudsburg (15-0, 10-0) to an even 10-10 scoreline the rest of the way, including a massive 7-2 run late in the first half.

Ali Pioli's all-around play in the midfield keyed the Raider effort. The senior tallied two goals, a season-high four caused turnovers, four groundballs and two draw controls.

Maddie Phommachanh found the back of the cage twice during SU's second-quarter spurt.
Shannon Wood scored twice and added an assist.

Izzy Sawicki totaled six saves and a season-high six groundballs in the Raider net.

Sadie Kauffman scored four of her eight goals during the Warriors' dominant first quarter.

Kauffman also had 14 draw controls (no SU player had more than two). She finished with 10 points (eight goals, two assists). Ariana Tucci added nine points for ESU (five goals, four assists).

East Stroudsburg goalkeeper Abby Simonetti was credited with nine saves.
