The Shippensburg University volleyball team split the final day of the PSAC/MEC Crossover, first defeating West Liberty 3-1 before falling to West Virginia State in four sets.

Shippensburg (6-5) ended the day with 105 kills, hitting .148 from the floor. The SU offense was balanced with
Elise Bragg,Â
Hailey Cappleman and
Natalya Montague each recording 21 kills over the span of two matches. Bragg tacked on 32 digs, a block, and an ace. Cappleman added seven digs, four blocks and an ace. Montague tallied two blocks.

Kearstin Davis and
Jaiden Anderson shared setting duties during the two matches. Davis handed out 53 assists and added three aces and 19 digs. Anderson dished out 36 assists, two aces and added 16 digs.

Shay Kolivoski led the Raider defense with 51 digs and three aces between the two matches.

Shippensburg returns to action on Friday where it will travel to Clarion to take on the Golden Eagles at 6 p.m.

SU opened the match with a 6-0 run that included an ace from Davis and kills from Cappleman, Montague and
Kayla Johnson. West Liberty answered with a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to two, 6-4. A 9-1 scoring stretch from the Hilltoppers gave them the lead, 13-9. A kill from Johnson started a 5-1 scoring stretch for the Raiders to put them within one, 19-18. The Hilltoppers increased their lead to three at 22-19. Errors from West Liberty tied the set, 22-22. West Liberty got set point after a 2-0 run, 24-23. The Raiders responded with a 3-0 run that started with a Bragg kill to take set one, 26-24.

The Hilltoppers claimed the first lead of set two after a 3-0 run, 5-3. A 5-1 scoring stretch increased the West Liberty lead, 10-5. The Raiders came within two after a kill from Johnson and two Hilltopper errors, 11-9. West Liberty responded with a 4-1 scoring stretch, 14-10. The Raiders took the first lead in set three after a 5-0 run that featured a pair of kills from Bragg and Snyder, 8-4. The Hilltoppers cut the Raider lead to two, 8-6. A 5-0 run from the Raiders with Bragg on the service line increased the Raider lead, 13-6. West Liberty completed a 5-1 scoring stretch to cut the deficit to five, 20-15. A kill from Montague led the Raiders to set point, 24-19. An error from the Hilltoppers gave set three to the Raiders, 25-20.

A 5-1 scoring stretch to begin set four gave the Raiders an early lead. The Hilltoppers responded with a 4-0 run to tie the set, 7-7. Back-to-back kills from Bombas put SU up by two, 9-7. West Liberty got its first lead of the set after a 4-0 run, 13-12. Another 4-0 run put the Hilltoppers up by four, 18-14. A 7-1 scoring stretch regained the SU lead, 22-20. Two West Liberty errors gave the Raiders set point, 24-21. A kill from Bragg closed the match and gave the Raiders the win, 25-23.

SU ended the match with 52 kills and a .204 hitting percentage. The Raiders out-blocked the Hilltoppers seven to six. West Liberty delivered 54 kills, hitting .139 from the floor. The Hilltoppers delivered ten aces to the Raiders' four.

The Raider offense was led by Montague who delivered a season-high 12 kills, hitting .480 from the floor, committing no errors on 25 swings. She added two solo blocks for SU. Bragg and Snyder each added nine kills. Bragg tallied a career-high 17 digs and tacked on an ace.

Kolivoski led the Raider defense with 26 digs and added two assists. Davis tallied a team-high 29 assists and added an ace and 11 digs.

West Liberty was led by Ashley Cudnik who delivered 14 kills, hitting .160. From the service line, the Hilltoppers were led by Amire Dupree and Kyia White. Dupree served five aces and White recorded four.

Cappleman started the match with a pair of kills. The teams traded points until the Raiders completed a 4-0 run that featured kills from Cappleman and Montague to give the Raiders the lead, 10-6. The Yellow Jackets completed a 7-1 scoring stretch to steal the lead, 13-11. West Virginia State increased its lead after a 6-1 scoring stretch, 19-13. A Snyder kill and Davis ace helped SU complete a 4-1 scoring stretch to cut the deficit to three, 21-18. A kill from Bragg and two Yellow Jacket errors cut the deficit to one, 23-22.
