SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University field hockey team recorded its fourth straight shutout on Friday, defeating Slippery Rock by a 4-0 score in non-conference action from sunny and warm Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (6-0) led 1-0 at the half over Slippery Rock (3-2) before pulling away after the intermission, scoring three times and holding the visitors without a shot on goal in the final 30 minutes.

In the second half, SU had 13-0 advantage in shots on goal and a 10-1 edge in penalty corners. Overall, the Raiders had 17 penalty corners to SRU's two while Emma Albee made one save to extend her scoreless streak to 260 minutes and 39 seconds.

The only goal of the first 30 minutes came in the second quarter and was another redirect by a Raider in the circle - this time a double deflection. On a penalty corner opportunity, Sierra Crews fired a shot that was deflected high by Lilly Cantabene and ultimately finished out of mid-air by Elaina Fragassi.

Five minutes into the second half, Kelly Naudé caged her fourth goal of the season by slamming home the rebound after the initial shot by Fragassi was stopped by SRU goalkeeper Emily Newton.

Annika Madeja became the 12th different Raider this season to score a goal when she swept home a crossing feed from Cantabene at the goal line with 3:32 left in the third quarter. The goal was the first of Madeja's career.

SU's fourth and final tally came with less than five minutes remaining and was the third goal of the season for McKenna Boyle, who slammed home a cross from Naudé into the open cage.

The Rock got 13 saves from Newton and a slick defensive save from backliner Haylie Sucharski.

Friday's match was a non-conference match between the two teams. On Oct. 22, the official "PSAC" match will be held at Slippery Rock.

Shippensburg travels to face No. 6 Mansfield at 1 p.m. Sunday for a non-conference matchup at Van Norman Field.
