The Shippensburg University lacrosse team nearly completed a comeback Saturday night at Millersville but came up short, dropping a 14-13 decision to the host Marauders in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup played under the lights at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Saturday's game was played at night due to the Millersville Metrics track meet taking place during the day at the Biemesderfer and marked the team's third one goal loss in East play this season.

Shippensburg (6-6, 1-6) overcame an early 3-0 deficit to tie Millersville (7-4, 3-3) after one quarter and take a 5-4 lead at the 12:16 mark of the second quarter. The Marauders countered with five goals in a 4:30 span to hold a 10-7 lead at halftime.

SU scored in the opening minute of the third quarter before both teams proceeded to go scoreless for the next 13 minutes of play. Millersville scored twice in final 42 seconds of the frame to lead 12-8.

The Raiders reeled off four of the next five goals to get within one, 13-12, with 4:47 remaining in regulation. Millersville scored at the 3:30 mark before the Raiders answered again with 1:43 left, but the subsequent 14-13 score ended up being the game's final margin.

Olivia Glinski posted her first career hat trick to lead the Raiders in scoring. Glinski finished with three goals and an assist.

Ali Pioli was all over the field once again, finishing with two goals, two assists, a team-high four draw controls and a groundball.

Rachel Keeney had three goals and three assists for the Marauders. Kaleigh Funk registered a hat trick, while Mary Moraca scored twice and contributed nine of MU's 20 draw controls. Katlyn Krebs had four draw controls and a match-high four caused turnovers.

Shippensburg hosts No. 1 West Chester at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Robb Sports Complex. It will be the team's Autism Awareness Game.
