SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team put forth a spirited performance in its final game of the 2025 season Saturday but came up just short on an emotional Senior Day, as it dropped a 13-12 decision to Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division showdown at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (8-9, 3-9 PSAC East) weathered an early Millersville (11-6, 7-5) onslaught in which the Marauders built a 5-0 lead after just six minutes of play.

Undaunted, SU reeled off six straight goals, scoring twice in the first quarter and four times in the second to take a 6-5 lead just four minutes before halftime.

The teams exchanged scoring runs into the fourth quarter. The Marauders countered with a 4-0 burst, tallying twice before halftime and twice more in the first five minutes of the third quarter to lead 9-6. SU then scored three-in-a-row in a 2:34 span to even the score at 9-9.

Millersville scored four of the next five to lead 13-10 with less than six minutes remaining. Senior Sara Vosburg scored twice in a 23-second span to get the Raiders back within one, but neither team scored in the final 4:48.

The Marauders claimed the third and final PSAC East playoff spot with the win, eliminating Kutztown.

In her final collegiate contest, Vosburg – one of eight Raider seniors – delivered a six-point day (three goals, three assists). She finished 2025 with career highs of 49 goals, 32 assists and 81 points to finish just three points shy of Shippensburg's single-season points record (84 in 1999 by Cameron Colbert). Her 32 assists are the third-most in SU single-season history.

Senior Jamie Carvin matched her career high with four goals – scoring on each of her shots on goal. Carvin equaled her single-season high of 22 goals set last year.

Junior Ali Pioli scored twice, while fellow junior Shannon Wood had a goal and assisted on Vosburg's final two goals. Sophomore Olivia Glinski and freshman Maddie Phommachanh also found the back of the net once.

Draw controls ended up 15-13 in Millersville's favor. Pioli had five, while sophomore Brynn Hauck  and junior Grace DeMarzio each had four. DeMarzio added an assist.

Senior Kayla Vosburg made 13 saves in her final collegiate contest as the Raider goalkeeper. It was the fourth time in the final five matches of the season in which Kayla Vosburg stopped at least 50 percent of the shots she faced.

All eight of the Raiders who participated in the pregame Senior Day ceremony got a start on Saturday: Carvin, Kayla Hillaert, Jill Hopkins, Alyssa Krueger, Francesca Picone, Annie Rathgeb, Kayla Vosburg and Sara Vosburg.

Among all-time SU rankings, Sara Vosburg finishes sixth in school history in career goals (151), sixth in career assists (55), tied for fourth in career points (206), tied for ninth in career draw controls (123) and 10th in career caused turnovers (57). Kayla Vosburg's 642 career saves are second in school history and 10th in PSAC history.

Of the many notable single-season accomplishments in 2025, DeMarzio's 71 draw controls rank fifth all-time in a campaign, while her 51 groundballs are ninth-most by a Raider in one year.

Shippensburg's 2025 season was defined by close games. Eight of SU's 12 conference matches were decided by two goals or less. The Raiders were 2-4 in games decided by one goal, and 1-1 in games decided by a two-goal margin.

Overall, the team's eight victories this season are its most in 11 years.
