The Shippensburg University women's outdoor track & field team began its weekend at the Bison Outdoor Challenge on Saturday with limited action at Bucknell University's Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Of Shippensburg's 10 entries on the day,
Victoria Mattioli was the last to compete and, under the lights in the invite section of the 5K, she delivered a fabulous outdoor personal best time of 17:37.69. It is a new PR of more than 13 seconds for Mattioli, who comfortably satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) automatic qualifying standard in the event.
Allyson Richwine won the non-invite section of the high jump with a season-best clearance of 5 feet, 4 ¼ inches (1.63 meters).
ShanAnn Simmons improved her season best in the shot put to 40 feet, 10 ¼ inches (12.45 meters), pacing three Raiders in the event.
Makayla Decker had Shippensburg's top discus throw of the day – her top mark was 126 feet, 7 inches (38.58 meters).
Action resumes at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow.
