SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup against Millersville Wednesday at Heiges Field House, 61-29.
Shippensburg (8-13, 5-10 PSAC) was down to just seven players for Wednesday's contest, as several key players did not dress due to illness. The Raiders were hit particularly hard in the backcourt, with just one guard in uniform against the Marauders.
Millersville (13-8, 8-6) held the Raiders to just 22-percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers – aiding a 21-to-six advantage in points off miscues. Marauder guard Kali March paced the visitors offensively, pouring in a game-high 19 points and dishing out five assists.
The makeshift SU lineup was solid defensively, holding Millersville to just 21 first-half points. The Raiders allowed 87 points against the Marauders in their previous meeting on Jan. 3.
Freshman guard
Abbie Johns was tasked with point guard duties and played a career-high 39 minutes. She led the Raiders with eight points, including a 2-for-5 night from three-point range.
Freshman forward
Michelle Olak finished with six points and five rebounds.
Senior forward
Abbie Miller netted four points in addition to a team-high seven boards. Freshman
Jenna Kasmierski was just one point from matching her career high, finishing with four points.
Shippensburg is back at home for its Alumni Day and Pink Out game Saturday against Lock Haven. Tip-off between the Raiders and the Bald Eagles is set for 1 p.m.
