Sara Vosburg totaled five goals, three assists, four groundballs and two caused turnovers Saturday as the Shippensburg University lacrosse team led wire-to-wire in a 13-8 victory over Wilmington (Del.) in non-conference action at a chilly Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (1-1) scored five goals in the first quarter and five goals in the third quarter to lead 11-4 after 45 minutes. The Raiders allowed a five-goal run to Shepherd to start the third quarter in their previous outing, while on Saturday, they held Wilmington (0-2) scoreless for the entire frame.

The Wildcats scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter but did not get any closer than four goals, 11-7, with 4:50 to go.

The Raiders finished with an overwhelming 41-19 advantage in shots on goal. WU goalkeepers Ashleigh Lawry and Allison Schiavone combined to make 28 saves.

Vosburg's career-high eight points included the fifth five-goal game of her career in addition to a career-high three assists. She had a hand in four of the team's five third-quarter tallies (one goal, three assists) and punctuated the outing with a free-position strike in the game's final 70 seconds.

Maddie Phommachanh also found the back of the net.

Ava Collins had a team-high four assists, equaling her career total through 14 games entering Saturday. Hauck and junior
Grace DeMarzio added assists.

Shippensburg was once again excellent in the center circle, finishing with a 16-7 advantage in draw controls. Hauck's eight draw controls were more than the Wildcats had as a team; Pioli had three and DeMarzio had two.

Pioli's final stat line included four groundballs and two caused turnovers. Five Raiders had at least three groundballs – Phommachanh had four, DeMarzio and senior
Annie Rathgeb had three.

Senior
Kayla Vosburg had a strong outing in goal, finishing with 10 saves. She stopped nine of the 13 shots she faced through the first three quarters. Freshman
Emily Huber made her collegiate debut in goal in the fourth quarter, recording a save on the first shot she faced with 10 minutes to go.

Wilmington got a hat trick from Ella Royer, bringing her season goal total to 10 through just two games. Royer also had three groundballs and three draw controls.
