SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's cross country team will run at 12:15 p.m. Saturday in the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The 10K race will be held at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course; Wisconsin-Parkside serves as the host.
Shippensburg is competing in the NCAA National Championships for the third straight year after a five-year absence. It is SU's 24th NCAA National Championships appearance in school history.
The Raiders will fly Thursday morning to Wisconsin and begin their pre-meet upon arrival. While the travel is significant, it pales in comparison to last year's journey to Sacramento.
Five of the team's seven runners have competed at least once at nationals.
Garrett Quinan and
Ryan Wolfe will be running in their third national meet, while it will be the second for
Tommy Crum Jr.,
Ramon Urena and
Brennan Wellock.
Ben Devine, last year's alternate, and
Ben Hummel will be competing at nationals for the first time.
Shippensburg won the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship and the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship, marking just the third time in school history that it has won both titles in the same season. The Raiders previously achieved the feat in 2016 and 2017.
Saturday's race will mark the culmination of a journey that began in the summer with training and increased mileage. SU is motivated to improve its place-finish for a third straight year after a 20th-place run last year and a 31st-place performance in 2023.
With the overall strength of NCAA Division II running at an all-time high, it will require the team's absolute best effort to continue its climb in the standings.
