SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team is listed at No. 2 in the second edition of the 2025 NCAA Atlantic Region rankings released Wednesday.
The NCAA regional rankings are annually used to determine the teams that qualify for the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships.
Rankings are released every Wednesday afternoon until the announcement of the tournament field, which is set for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24. Each set of rankings includes all matches played through the previous Sunday.
Gannon (20-6) currently ranks ahead of Shippensburg in the Atlantic Region. The rankings feature eight teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), with three teams from the Eastern Division: No. 4 East Stroudsburg (21-5) and No. 5 Shepherd (19-7).
The Atlantic Region is comprised of all 16 volleyball teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), all 12 teams in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and 10 of the 11 teams in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) – a total of 38 teams. Point Park is still ineligible for NCAA Championship competition as it completes its transition to NCAA Division II.
Each of the three conference champions will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships.
Eight teams from each region will qualify for the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships. The NCAA Atlantic Region Championships will take place Thursday, Dec. 4 through Saturday, Dec. 6.
The winner of each of the eight regional tournaments will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Thursday, Dec. 11 through Saturday, Dec. 13.
