SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 2 Shippensburg University field hockey team concluded its home regular season schedule with a Senior Day victory over Mansfield in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest Saturday at Robb Sports Complex, 3-1.
Â
Shippensburg (14-2, 6-2 PSAC) scored all three goals against Manfield (5-11, 1-7) from attacking penalty corners.
Carme Caracotche Picone netted two, including the game-winner. Her performance tied her single-game career high in goals scored and doubled her career goal total.
Â
Caracotche Picone, normally a defensive-minded midfielder, opened the scoring 25 minutes in, firing home a rebound off a
Hannah White blast that had been turned aside by the pads of Mountie keeper Lydia Miller.
Â
The two teams traded goals in the span of 1:25 during a decisive stretch early in the second half.
Â
Mansfield found an equalizer five minutes after intermission, with Jenna Duke redirecting a point attempt from Ella du Plessis to make it a 1-1 score.
Â
Shippensburg was able to answer quickly, earning one of the team's 13 corners on the day.
Agus Garibaldi received the insert and laid it off to Caracotche Picone, who beat the Mansfield goalie low and to the near post for what would become the game-winning goal.
Â
Kelly Naudé provided some insurance early in the fourth quarter, redirecting a White point shot high into the air and past the Mountie defense for the 3-1 scoreline.
Â
Naudé's eighth goal of the season is a career high and pulls her into a three-way tie with teammates
Lilly Cantabene and
Elaina Fragassi for the club lead.
Â
Caracotche Picone's other two-goal outing came in the 2025 season opener, a 7-0 win over Belmont Abbey on Sept. 6.
Â
Shippensburg ended the contest with a 13-to-5 advantage in penalty corners and a 7-2 edge in shots on target.
Â
Miller finished with four saves for the Mountaineers.
