SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team found a second-half equalizer from Coy Rush (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) to earn a draw against West Chester, 1-1, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action Saturday at a sunny David See Field.

Shippensburg (3-5-3, 0-3-2 PSAC East) surrendered a first half tally from West Chester (5-4-2, 2-2-1) forward Luke Newman but rallied for a point thanks to Rush's strike in the 63rd minute.

The Golden Ram goal came 19th minutes in. A fortunate carom on a SU clearance attempt created the opening, and Macade Knoblauch laid off a pass to Newman making a late run into the box for a shot into the bottom right corner of the net.

Rush scored not long after coming on as a substitute midway through the second half. The SU winger raced past his mark on the right side and delivered a shot from an acute angle that took a slight deflection off a West Chester defender before bulging the back of the Golden Ram net.

The Raiders nearly found the go-ahead goal minutes later on a dangerous three-on-two counterattack, but a touch-heavy through ball left the chance begging.

Shippensburg dealt with some nervy moments in the back as the visitors searched for a winner, but SU keeper Ryan Krumenacker was up to the task – finishing with four saves.

Both teams totaled three corner kicks, while the Golden Rams had a slight 5-to-2 advantage in shots on goal.

The Raiders return to action Wednesday at No. 13 Bloomsburg. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
