SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University middle hitter Hailey Cappleman was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.
In a 3-0 week for the Raiders that included sweeps of Chestnut Hill and East Stroudsburg and a five-setter over Kutztown, Cappleman ripped 34 kills, swinging .389 from the floor on 72 attempts. She tacked on 11 blocks (one solo, 10 assisted).
Overall, Cappleman averaged three kills and one block per set.
After a dominant 14-kill, one-error, six-block effort in which she hit .722 in the win over Chestnut Hill, Cappleman delivered seven kills and hit .300 in the win over ESU. In Saturday's marathon win over Kutztown, Cappleman had 13 kills, swung .265 and added five blocks.
This marks the second weekly award of Cappleman's career and the second of the season, having previously won the award on Sept. 8 after the Tony Banner Memorial Classic. This also marks a back-to-back Athlete of the Week honor for the Raiders as Kearstin Davis won the award on Oct. 6. It is the third Athlete of the Week award this season for SU.
