The No. 1-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team dropped its first contest of the season Saturday, falling 3-2 at No. 4 East Stroudsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Whitenight Field.

Shippensburg (11-1, 3-1 PSAC) was behind 2-0 at the six-minute mark of the third quarter when Kelly Naudé scored her seventh goal of the season off an assist by
Elaina Fragassi.

Four minutes later, East Stroudsburg (11-2, 2-2) answered to make it 3-1.

Fragassi scored her fourth goal of the season with just over 10 minutes remaining, but Shippensburg was limited to one penalty corner and one blocked shot the rest of the way.

Three of the five goals came off penalty corners – two for ESU and one for the Raiders. Overall, the hosts had 11-7 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-6 edge in corners.

Emma Albee made eight saves, including five in the second half. It is the second-most saves she has recorded in a match this season.

The Warriors got goals from Alex Eagles, Elaiana Rivera-Lagalla and Kerry Kaufman along with five combined saves from goalkeepers Sydney Pope and Jet Vermuelen.

Shippensburg hosts Millerville at 5 p.m. Tuesday for a PSAC match at Robb Sports Complex. It will be the second meeting between the two teams in a seven-day span; SU won 2-0 at the Biemesderfer on Wednesday.
