RECAP: Men’s Soccer drops conference opener at Shepherd, 3-1

Ganley gets the Raider goal; Rams score twice in 62-second span to pull away

The Shippensburg University men's soccer team could not overcome a pair of goals scored in a 62-second span of the second half as it dropped its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener at Shepherd on Wednesday, 3-1.

Shippensburg (3-3-1, 0-1-0 PSAC East) tallied a goal in the 32nd minute from Kyle Ganley, his fourth of the season, to even the match at 1-1. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.

Shepherd (4-4-0, 1-0-0) got a hat trick from Josh Petty in the victory. Petty, in his first year with the Rams after transferring from Queens (Charlotte), found the back of the net in the 68th minute and the 69th minute after opening the scoring in the 25th minute. His hat trick gives him six goals in his last three matches and eight overall this season.

The hosts finished with a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal and a 10-6 edge in corner kicks. All six of Shippensburg's corner kicks came in the second half.

Ryan Krumenacker made three saves for the Raiders.

Shippensburg hosts Millersville at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at David See Field.
