SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 decision against No. 8 Kutztown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match Saturday evening at David See Field.

Shippensburg (0-4-1, 0-2-1) was statistically out-chanced in both shots on goal and corners, but the Raiders made the most out of their opportunities, scoring two goals in a span of five minutes in the second half.

SU and Kutztown (4-0-2, 2-0-2) made it just 20 minutes into the match before inclement weather forced a lightning delay of nearly two hours. Shortly after returning to action, Kutztown's Joslyn Stoltz finished a corner kick from Katelyn Economopoulos by heading the ball into the top center of the net to open the scoring, 1-0.

In the 59th minute, senior Olivia Stephen took advantage of a free kick and sent it into the bottom left corner of the net to even the score at 1-1. Five minutes later, sophomore Gabrielle Walker passed the ball to sophomore Ashley Hughes who redirected the ball into the bottom center of the net to take a 2-1 lead.

The Golden Bears answered in the 70th minute, using an Isabella Rossetti shot that was first deflected by Raider sophomore goalie Kirstin Brown but rolled past into the bottom left corner for what proved to be the final score of the game at 2-2.

Kutztown totaled 19 shots on goal and 32 total shots compared to the Raiders two shots on goal and seven total shots. The Golden Bears also amassed 18 corners throughout the match to SU's two.

Brown was the deciding factor, making a career-high 16 saves in the match. It is the most saves in a single game by a Raider since Hall of Famer Beth Long made 17 saves on Sept. 16, 2009 in a 1-1 tie vs. ESU.

The Raiders will next play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Millersville.
