SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team dropped a 6-1 decision to regional rival Shepherd in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division women's soccer contest on Wednesday afternoon at David See Field.

Shippensburg (0-4-0, 0-2-0 PSAC East) scored its first goal of the season during the second half when senior
Olivia Stephen converted a penalty kick. The opportunity arose when sophomore
Ashley Hughes was fouled in the box after being sprung free on a strong play in the midfield by sophomore
Gabrielle Walker.

Shepherd (2-0-2, 2-0-0 PSAC East) took advantage of its opportunities early and often in the decisive victory. Lydia Gable scored twice in a three-minute span of the first half and finished with a hat trick after kicking a ball into the cage from near midfield with three seconds left.

The Rams also scored twice in the final two minutes of the first half to take a 4-0 lead at the intermission, as the visitors caged two goals in a 1:44 span before halftime.

Overall, shots on goal were 11-3 in favor of Shepherd, while corners were 5-4 in the visitors' favor.

The Raiders used all three of their goalkeepers in the contest. Sophomore
Kirstin Brown made four saves in the first half. Freshman
Hannah Cline was credited with a save in 36 minutes of relief, while redshirt-freshman
Maggie Webb made her collegiate debut and worked the final nine minutes.
