The Shippensburg University softball team settled for a split of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division twinbill Tuesday afternoon at Lawrence Field.

Shippensburg (23-9, 12-6 PSAC) won a close game in the opener, 6-3, before dropping the nightcap, 6-1.

Freshman
Brie Wilmot broke a 3-3 stalemate with a two-out, three-run blast in the top of the sixth inning to propel the Raiders to the Game 1 victory. Wilmot (2-for-4) drove in four of the six Raider runs.

Lock Haven (11-19, 7-11) won the nightcap on the strength of an outstanding effort by starting pitcher Faith Persing. Persing, who surrendered 11 hits in five innings in a loss at Shippensburg March 26, held the Raider lineup to just two knocks over seven frames in a complete game victory.

Shippensburg returns to Robb Field Wednesday for a nonconference doubleheader against Frostburg State. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.

The Raiders began the back-and-forth opener with an unearned tally in the top the first, and added to their early advantage with a two-run rally in the third.

Lock Haven then rallied for three of its over the next two innings against the Shippensburg ace to knot the score at 3-3.

Caitlyn Martell singled in the sixth ahead of Wilmot's game-winning jolt.

Ball scattered seven hits and five walks, allowing just two earned and striking out four in a complete game win.

Morgan Lindsay lifted a solo shot to left in the top of the fourth inning for the Raiders. It was only run charged to Persing's ledger.

Lock Haven led from start to finish, getting an RBI single from Hailey Irwin in the bottom of the first inning and a two-run blast from Bella Schmitt in the third.

The Bald Eagles answered Lindsay's longball with three more runs in the fifth, including a two-run double from Delaney Good.

Emily Lafferty had the only other hit for the Raiders.

Madalyn Dyer got the Game 2 start. She struck out five over 4.2 innings and was charged with four earned runs. Sophomore
