RECAP: Lacrosse wins second straight, knocking off Shepherd in come-from-behind fashion, 11-10

Fenwick nets game-winner, second career hat trick

The Shippensburg University lacrosse team knocked off Shepherd in come-from-behind fashion Wednesday at Ram Stadium, 11-10, to record their second straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) road victory.

Shippensburg (4-11, 2-8 PSAC East) trailed Shepherd (5-9, 3-7) for much of the game before netting both the tying and game-winning tallies in the final 4:50 of regulation.

Junior Sara Vosburg evened the score at 10-10 by converting a give-and-go to the left of the cage with first-year Olivia Glinski.

After Shippensburg called timeout with possession with two minutes remaining, three straight Shepherd fouls resulted in three free-position attempts for the Raiders. On the third attempt, senior Emily Fenwick made no mistake, ripping a shot past the Shepherd keeper for the game-winner with 1:31 left.

The Raiders trailed the Rams by as many as four goals prior to their comeback.

It is the first time Shippensburg has won back-to-back contests and back-to-back conference wins since it defeated three straight PSAC opponents in April 2021. It is the first time SU has won consecutive games – both on the road – since March 2011.

Vosburg and Fenwick both finished with three goals Wednesday. For Fenwick, it marked her second career hat trick, while Vosburg's tally now puts her at 99 goals for her career.

Trailing 2-0 early, sophomore Grace DeMarzio kick-started the comeback with a free-position goal – her first goal as a Raider. Junior Jamie Carvin registered a pair of goals for Shippensburg. Glinski and sophomore Keegan Dings also scored.

Sam Lassahn finished with a hat trick for Shepherd.

Shippensburg had an overwhelming 18-to-7 advantage in draw controls, led by a career-high eight from DeMarzio.

Junior Annie Rathgeb led the Raider defense with four groundballs. Junior Francesca Picone was credited with two caused turnovers.

Junior Kayla Vosburg had eight saves in the Raider net.

Shippensburg returns home to take on No. 11 East Stroudsburg Saturday for Senior Day at 1 p.m. at Robb Sports Complex.
