SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team was downed by the No. 15 Kutztown Golden Bears in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division contest on a blustery Saturday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex, 18-4.

Shippensburg (2-10, 0-7 PSAC East) salvaged a tough afternoon by finishing the contest on a 4-0 run, including two goals from sophomore
Ali Pioli.

Sara Vosburg and first-year
Hanna Woolf also scored.

Woolf's goal was the first of her collegiate career.

Pioli also led the Raiders with six draw controls, three groundballs and three caused turnovers.
The Golden Bears (10-2, 6-1) netted the first 18 goals of the afternoon. Shannon Lake led the visitors with four tallies, reaching the 100 career goal mark in the process. Lauren Lamorte added a hat trick.

KU held a major possession advantage, particularly early. They maintained a 21-8 edge on groundballs and a 16-10 advantage on draw controls.

Prior to the game, the Raiders wore pink shirts for breast cancer awareness and to honor the memory of Julia Wise.
Â
Wise, a 2017 SU graduate and former lacrosse captain, passed away after a battle with breast cancer in February 2021.

SU returns to Robb Sports Complex Wednesday for a 4 p.m. tilt against West Chester.
