SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team went toe-to-toe with regional rival Shepherd on Wednesday, but the visiting Rams out-scored the Raiders 4-1 in the fourth quarter to come away with an 11-9 victory in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (1-6, 0-3 PSAC East) led 3-1 after the first quarter and 8-7 after the third quarter but was limited to just two shots on goal in the final 15 minutes.

Shepherd (3-4, 1-2) won nine of the 12 draw controls contested after halftime and kept the Raiders off the scoreboard over the final 6:35. Kelsey King scored her fourth goal of the game with 4:59 to go – the tally proved to be the game-winner.

Juniors Sara Vosburg and Jamie Carvin each recorded hat tricks. Vosburg added an assist, a caused turnover and two draw controls. Carvin's hat trick was the second of her career, accompanying her hat trick in last year's home game against Shepherd.

Sophomore Grace DeMarzio led all players with six draw controls. Fellow sophomore Ali Pioli assisted on the first two Raider goals and collected a team-high four groundballs.

Junior goalkeeper Kayla Vosburg made 10 saves – her fourth double-digit save total of the season. Vosburg also had a caused turnover and three groundballs. Junior Annie Rathgeb and first-years Olivia Glinski and Brynn Hauck also recorded three groundballs.

Other Raiders to find the scoresheet included sophomore Shannon Wood, who had a goal and an assist, along with senior Emily Fenwick and sophomore Keegan Dings, who each scored a goal. Senior Payton Margerum and sophomore Alyssa Krueger contributed assists.

The Rams got 11 saves from Destiny Rockwell, while Shanna Dextradeur had two goals and two assists. Holly Poe and Aubrey Harrison each scored twice.

Shippensburg returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Millersville at Robb Sports Complex. The lacrosse team will be conducting its annual The Hidden Opponent (THO) game in conjunction with the softball team.
