SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team rallied to within three goals of visiting Millersville entering the fourth quarter but could not stave off the visiting Marauders, falling 17-11 in a spirited Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division showdown at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (1-7, 0-4 PSAC East) fell behind 6-2 after the first quarter but put forth multiple stretches of play in both the second and third quarters in which it kept Millersville (3-4, 1-2) off the scoreboard. Heading into halftime, SU scored three times in the final 2:50 of the second quarter and kept the Marauders scoreless for more than five minutes, trailing 10-6 at the intermission.

The Raiders also kept the Marauders off the scoreboard for the final 7:30 of the third quarter, scoring three times to make it a 12-9 contest through 45 minutes of play. Ultimately, the visitors scored five times in the fourth quarter to bookend their victory.

Millersville finished with a 24-8 edge in draw controls, including 12 of the 14 draws in the second half. The Marauders also posted a 35-19 advantage in shots on goal.

Kayla Vosburg made a career-high 18 saves in 55 minutes of action. Vosburg's collegiate best marks the most saves in a game by a Raider goalkeeper in six years, since Kiki Brasher had 22 saves at Bloomsburg on March 20, 2018.

Sara Vosburg scored four goals, recording her fifth hat trick of the season. Vosburg had a team-high four draw controls, half of the Raider total, along with two caused turnovers and two groundballs.

Jamie Carvin posted a hat trick for the second straight game. Senior

Payton Margerum had a goal and two assists.

Millersville's Rachel Keeney was all over the field, finishing with four goals, two assists, eight draw controls and three groundballs. Jodylynn Cadden also had eight draw controls. Liv Genovese and Kaleigh Funks added hat tricks as seven different Marauders contributed at least one goal.
Shippensburg returns to action at 4 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts IUP for a non-conference match at Robb Sports Complex.
