RECAP: Lacrosse drops blustery PSAC opener at No. 17 Kutztown

Keegan Dings nets a career-high four goals for SU

The Shippensburg University lacrosse team opened its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division schedule Wednesday with a setback against the No. 17 Kutztown Golden Rams on a windy afternoon at Keystone Field, 18-7.

Shippensburg (1-4, 0-1 PSAC East) sophomore Keegan Dings had a career day, netting a career-high four goals, one assist and a career-best six draw controls. The four goals give her nine on the season, which also represents a career high.

Kutztown (4-1, 1-0) pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Raiders 4-0 in the frame. Sam Graf finished with six points (five goals, one assist) to lead the Golden Bears. Lailah El Bouazzaoui recorded a hat trick.

Junior Sara Vosburg canceled out an early Kutztown tally with a goal 1:42 into the contest, 1-1.

The Golden Bears responded with five straight goals, but three second-quarter tallies from Dings kept the Raiders within striking distance.

After a Golden Bear-dominated third quarter, the Raiders were able to outscore the opposition 3-2 over the final 15 minutes on goals from Dings, first-year Olivia Glinski and sophomore Grace Larrimore.

Larrimore's tally came with 10 seconds left on the game clock and was the second of her collegiate career.

First-year Brynn Hauck led the defense with a team-best three groundballs. Junior goalie Kayla Vosburg was credited with 14 saves, just one off her season high.

The Raiders' tough PSAC East slate continues Saturday with a trip to No. 2 West Chester. It is the final game of their six-game road swing to start the season. Start time against the Golden Rams is set for 1 p.m.
