RECAP: Women’s Basketball comes up short at No. 24 Lock Haven, 64-51

Miller scores a season-high 18 points; Chimienti adds 12 points

The Shippensburg University women's basketball team hung tight at No. 24 Lock Haven on Sunday but could not vanquish the home-standing Bald Eagles, dropping a 64-51 decision in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Thomas Fieldhouse.

Shippensburg (5-22, 4-17 PSAC) was within three points of Lock Haven (24-2, 19-1) after the first quarter, 17-14, and within eight points at halftime. The Bald Eagles pulled away in the third quarter by out-scoring the Raiders, 16-8.

Junior Abbie Miller matched her season high with 18 points, finishing just two points shy of her career high. Miller finished 8-of-14 from the field and had seven rebounds. Freshman Bella Chimienti also reached double figures, contributing 12 points to go along with six rebounds.

Sophomore Makayla Foddrell was 2-of-3 from the field and finished with five points and three rebounds. SU was sent to the free-throw line only five times Sunday, with Miller, Chimienti and Foddrell teaming up to make all five attempts. It was SU's fewest free-throw attempts in a single game since the 2022 PSAC First Round game against Lock Haven.

Freshman Alexis Buie matched Miller with a team-high seven rebounds, while sophomore Ellie Goodwin had a career-high three blocked shots to go along with three rebounds.

Lock Haven had four players in double figures. Jenadia Jordan had a team-high 14 points and was all over the stat sheet for the Bald Eagles, contributing seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks. Alana Robinson had 12 points, a game-high nine rebounds, and a game-high five blocks.

Shippensburg concludes its season at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a home game against Shepherd at Heiges Field House.
