SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University men's soccer team fell to the East Stroudsburg Warriors in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at David See Field, 4-1.
Riding a wave of emotion, Shippensburg (2-13, 1-8 PSAC East) was able to test the East Stroudsburg (7-4-4, 4-3-2) defense early, but three second-half goals for the visitors turned out to be too much to overcome.
Sophomore
Luca Heusser scored the Raiders' lone goal in the 80th minute. An attacking throw in from senior
Victor Vottero was redirected by a Heusser header in the box, lofting the ball over the outstretched arm of the ESU keeper and into the back of the net for his third goal of the campaign.
East Stroudsburg opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a goal from forward Nathan Bradway. The Warriors followed with second half tallies by Juan Conde, Cayetano Diaz and Connor Hanratty.
Freshman
Cam Henry led Shippensburg with four total shots and two on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Ryan Krumenacker tied a career high with nine saves.
In their penultimate home match, the Raiders recognized five seniors for their dedication to the men's soccer program prior to kickoff:
Ashton Davies,
Andrew Versis, Vottero,
Clay Waterman and
Luke Witham.
The Raiders conclude their 2024 schedule Friday vs. Shepherd. Kickoff from David See Field is slated for 6 p.m.
