The Shippensburg University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at East Stroudsburg on Saturday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Shippensburg (2-6-0, 1-4-0 PSAC East) and East Stroudsburg (4-2-2, 2-1-1) were scoreless through the first 38 minutes until the hosts got on the board by converting a penalty kick after a Raider foul in the box. The score remained 1-0 in ESU's favor at halftime.
ESU scored twice in a 2:25 span of the second half to take control, as Cayetano Diaz scored a goal in the 56th minute on a corner kick and then assisted on a Benny Goodrich goal in the 58th minute.
The Raiders got on the board in the 80th minute when senior
Victor Vottero converted a penalty kick for the second time this season. Vottero was arm-wrestled to the ground in the box and delivered the penalty into the lower-left portion of the net for his second goal of the year.
Sophomore
Ryan Krumenacker, the PSAC leader in saves, added nine more stops to his season ledger. Helgi Hermannsson, made one save for ESU.
Shots on goal were 12-2 in favor of the hosts. ESU also had a 7-2 edge in corners.
Shippensburg is on the road Wednesday for a 2 p.m. match at Seton Hill.
