SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team swept non-conference opponent Frostburg State on Tuesday night at Heiges Field House to extend its winning streak to nine matches. Set scores were 25-18, 25-13, 25-14.

Shippensburg (12-9) finished the match hitting .272 from the floor and recording 44 kills. Frostburg State (6-14) ended the match with 20 kills and a .053 hitting percentage. The Raiders delivered nine service aces to the Bobcats three. Both teams collected four blocks.

Hailey Cappleman led the SU offense with a season-high 11 kills, hitting .304 from the floor. Senior
Emily Gardner and junior
Isabelle Bombas added 10 kills apiece for the Raiders. Gardner recorded her 14th double-double of the season and added 10 digs. Bombas hit .529 from the floor, committing just one attack error.

Kearstin Davis handed out 34 assists and tallied four kills, 11 digs, and a block assist. Sophomore libero
Shay Kolivoski led the SU defense with 12 digs and added two service aces.

The Raiders took the lead early completing a 7-2 scoring stretch that featured a pair of kills from Bombas and a Gardner ace. Back-to-back kills from Cappleman increased the SU lead to 11-5. Bombas ripped two kills and Kolivoski delivered an ace to complete a 4-0 run, 16-9. A kill from sophomore
Natalya Montague sparked a 3-0 run to help the Raiders arrive at set point, 24-16. The Bobcats staved off two set points before Montague delivered a kill to close set one, 25-18.

A 4-0 run off two Bobcat attack errors and kills from senior
Maddie Clabaugh and Cappleman gave the Raiders the early lead in set two, 6-2. The Raiders went on a 5-0 run that included three aces from Clabaugh, 12-4. Cappleman, Montague and Gardner recorded kills to increase the lead to 17-5. After a Frostburg State service error, SU arrived at set point, 24-10. The Bobcats went on a 3-0 run to try to cut the deficit but Cappleman was able to end set two with a kill, 25-13.

The third set was the Raiders' most efficient, collecting 13 kills, hitting .300 from the floor. Bombas notched a kill that sparked a 5-0 scoring run, 7-1. A kill from Cappleman, two Bobcat errors and an ace from freshman
Sophia Barrera increased the lead to 12-4. The Raiders went on an 8-1 scoring stretch that featured three kills from Gardner, 22-9. Bombas delivered a kill to put SU at match point, 24-14. Cappleman recorded the final kill for the Raiders to end the match, 25-14.

This was just the third meeting between the two teams, with the Raiders claiming two of the three matchups. SU's only loss to Frostburg State came last year, when the Bobcats posted a home sweep.

Shippensburg will travel to Shepherd at 7 p.m. on Friday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at the Butcher Athletic Center.
