The Shippensburg University women's soccer team could not find its footing in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at Kutztown on Saturday afternoon, losing 3-0 at Keystone Field.
Shippensburg (3-7-2, 3-5-2 PSAC East) struggled offensively, only totaling three shots on goal to Kutztown's 16 shots on goal. Sophomore
Kirstin Brown recorded 12 saves in the match.
Kutztown (8-1-4, 6-1-4 PSAC East) opened the scoring late in the first half with a goal by Katelyn Economopoulos in the 42nd minute that narrowly passed the left crossbar and past Brown. Sarah Bronico and Alyssa Galayda contributed to the goal and recorded assists.
Kutztown added two goals in the second half, one in the 68th minute and one in the 78th minute. Isabella Rossetti made her way around Raider defenders and sent a shot into the bottom left corner of the net to extend the score to 2-0. Maura Day took a corner later in the second half that found its way to Gianna Rivera, who headed the ball into the center of the net for the insurance goal at 3-0.
The Raiders will visit Lock Haven at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
