SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team dropped its home opener Wednesday night to No. 13 West Chester by a score of 4-0 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at David See Field.
 
Shippensburg (0-2-0, 0-1-0 PSAC East) challenged throughout the game but was unable to overcome an early goal by the Golden Rams. Junior Morgan Molyneaux tallied five saves in the match.
 
West Chester (1-0-1, 1-0-0 PSAC East) got off to a fast start, scoring its first goal within the first 30 seconds. Faith Matter not only scored the Golden Rams' first goal, she also tallied an assist and a second goal in the match. WCU added a second goal at the 30th minute to lead 2-0 at half.
 
The Golden Rams started the second half almost identical to the first, scoring 31 seconds in. They added their fourth goal at the 60th minute.
 
West Chester had a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal against the Raiders, along with a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
 
The Raiders will be back in action at 11 a.m. Sunday for a non-conference match against Saint Michael's at David See Field.
