SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match against Millersville, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at David See Field.
Millersville (3-2-2, 3-2-1 PSAC East) scored first, with the goal coming in the 35th minute of the match. Marauder Bailey Hunt worked through three Shippensburg defenders before kicking the ball towards the goal, which hit the sidebar and bounced in for an early lead.
The Marauders added to their lead in the second half, with Hunt passing the ball up to Palina Jordan, who sent the ball into the high center of the net to extend the Millersville lead to 2-0.
The Raiders (1-7-0, 1-5-0 PSAC East) cut the lead in half at the 70th minute, coming from senior
Nicole Tormann, the first of her collegiate career. Tormann entered a corner kick that trickled off a body in the box and into the goal. SU was unable to even the score in the final 20 minutes of the match.
The match featured just seven total shots on goal. SU posted a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Shippensburg is in action this Saturday in a matchup at East Stroudsburg. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
