The Shippensburg University lacrosse team could not hang on as it fell to Bloomsburg, 11-18, Wednesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern division matchup at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Shippensburg (1-10,0-6 PSAC East) countered a 4-0 run by Bloomsburg (5-6,2-4) to start the second quarter with back-to-back free position goals from freshman
Ali Pioli and graduate
Addie Kalama to cut the Huskies lead 6-4. Pioli found the back of the net again to get the Raiders within one.
The Huskies thought they ended the half on a 4-0 run until junior
Payton Margerum sent a beautiful pass to senior
Abby Seasock for a diving goal at the buzzer.
The Raiders were able to get within three to start the second half but could not reduce the deficit in the final stretch.
Sophomore
Sara Vosburg led the Raiders with a career high five goals. She also added three draw controls.
Freshman
Ali Pioli stuffed the stat sheet with two goals, six draw controls, five groundballs and four caused turnovers.
Graduate
Hannah Seifried also had two goals and added three draw controls. Freshman
Grace DeMarzio contributed two draw controls and two groundballs.
Sophomore goalie
Kayla Vosburg ended the contest with ten saves.
Shippensburg is back on the road Saturday to face Kutztown at 1.p.m.
