RECAP: Lacrosse falls in tight battle at Bloomsburg, 18-11

Sara Vosburg notches career-high five goals

The Shippensburg University lacrosse team could not hang on as it fell to Bloomsburg, 11-18, Wednesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern division matchup at Steph Pettit Stadium.

Shippensburg (1-10,0-6 PSAC East) countered a 4-0 run by Bloomsburg (5-6,2-4) to start the second quarter with back-to-back free position goals from freshman Ali Pioli and graduate Addie Kalama to cut the Huskies lead 6-4. Pioli found the back of the net again to get the Raiders within one.

The Huskies thought they ended the half on a 4-0 run until junior Payton Margerum sent a beautiful pass to senior Abby Seasock for a diving goal at the buzzer.

The Raiders were able to get within three to start the second half but could not reduce the deficit in the final stretch.

Sophomore Sara Vosburg led the Raiders with a career high five goals. She also added three draw controls.

Freshman Ali Pioli stuffed the stat sheet with two goals, six draw controls, five groundballs and four caused turnovers.

Graduate Hannah Seifried also had two goals and added three draw controls. Freshman Grace DeMarzio contributed two draw controls and two groundballs.

Sophomore goalie Kayla Vosburg ended the contest with ten saves.

Shippensburg is back on the road Saturday to face Kutztown at 1.p.m.
