SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team fought to the wire and came out victorious as it took down Shepherd, 9-8, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern division matchup Tuesday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (2-13,1-9 PSAC East) trailed by two with five minutes left in the first half until sophomore Jamie Carvin scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at halftime.

The Raiders went on a 2-0 run early in the third quarter to give themselves the lead. Shepherd (5-10,1-9) then went on a run of its own late in the third to tie the game heading into the final quarter.

The two teams traded goals three times to tie the score 8-8 with four and a half minutes left. Carvin found the back of the net for her third goal of the game with two minutes remaining to put SU ahead and secure the victory.

Sophomore Sara Vosburg scored three goals in the win. She also added four draw controls and an assist.

Junior Emily Fenwick had two goals and one assist for her first multi-goal game of her career. Graduate Hannah Seifried dished out three assists and added one goal and four groundballs.

Freshman Ali Pioli contributed three draw controls. Freshman Grace DeMarzio had four groundballs.

Sophomore goalie Kayla Vosburg finished with 11 saves and three groundballs, her tenth double-digit save game of the season.
