SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team fought until the end but came up short against Millersville, 16-12, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)Eastern Division matchup Saturday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex. 
 
Shippensburg (1-13, 0-9 PSAC) gained an early 1-0 lead with the first of six goals from sophomore Sara Vosburg. The game was tied heading into the second quarter.
 
Millersville (8-6,5-4) went on a 5-0 run the entire second quarter to give themselves an 8-3 lead heading into halftime. 
 
The Raiders chipped away at the Marauder lead in the second half, coming within four in the final seconds, but could not recover. 
 
Shippensburg was led by Vosburg, who recorded a career-high six goals. It is the most goals scored by any Raider this season. She also added two draw controls.
 
Graduate Hannah Seifried was on fire in the circle, securing a career-high 11 draw controls for the Raiders. She now sits tied second all-time in draw controls in a single game. She also notched three goals, four groundballs and an assist. 
 
Freshman Ali Pioli contributed a goal, six draw controls and two caused turnovers. Senior Abby Seasock and sophomore Jamie Carvin each added a goal for the Raiders. 
 
SU outdrew Millersville in a 20-12 advantage. The Raiders also led in groundballs and shots on goal.
 
Sophomore goalie Kayla Vosburg finished the contest with seven saves. 
 
Millersville was led by Hayden Corcoran and Ella Linthicum who scored four goals each. 
 
Shippensburg returns to Robb Sports Complex Tuesday to face Shepherd at 4 p.m.
