SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University football team concluded its spring practice schedule with the annual Red-White Spring Game on a stormy Saturday at Seth Grove Stadium.
Â
The Red Team, consisting of the first team offense and second team defense, defeated the White Team, made up of the first team defense and second team offense, by a 28-0 final score.
Â
After a lightning storm brought about a delayed start, newcomer
Onasis Neely brought the lightning on to the field, scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns to help lift the Red Team to victory.
Â
Junior
Jake DeLuccia also scored a rushing touchdown for the Red Team, while junior tight end
Ethan Smerecki added a touchdown reception.
Â
Steady rain made passing a chore early, but conditions improved enough as the day crept on to allow redshirt-freshman
Joey McCracken to stand out among the quarterback group.
Â
Redshirt-sophomore defensive back
Micah Lowry Jr. recorded a key interception for the Red Team defense.
Â
The Raiders will kick-off the 2023 fall season Saturday, September 2 against Newberry College at Seth Grove Stadium.
