The Shippensburg University lacrosse team came up on the short end of a road match at No. 12 Wingate on Thursday, falling 17-6 to the Bulldogs in action at Irwin Belk Stadium.
 
Shippensburg (1-3) got a hat trick from sophomore Sara Vosburg and 13 saves from sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Vosburg.
 
SU hung with Wingate (5-2) in the middle quarters, as the Raiders allowed only two goals in the second quarter and one goal in the third quarter. The Bulldogs bookended the match with nine goals in the first quarter and five in the fourth quarter to take control.
 
Sophomore Jill Hopkins, freshman Keegan Dings and freshman Ali Pioli each found the back of the net for Shippensburg. Senior Abby Seasock had an assist.
 
Sophomore Annie Rathgeb and freshman Grace DeMarzio each recorded team highs of three caused turnovers and three groundballs from the Raider back lines.
 
Pioli also had two groundballs, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. DeMarzio added a pair of draw controls.
 
Shippensburg opens its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division schedule at 4 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Kutztown at Robb Sports Complex.
