SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team could not hang on as it fell to Kutztown, 14-3, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division contest Tuesday evening at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (1-4, 0-1 PSAC East) gained a 1-0 lead just 10 seconds into the game when graduate Hannah Seifried took the first draw control down the field to find senior Abby Seasock for a Raider goal.

Kutztown (5-0, 2-0) did not answer until late and tied the game to end the first quarter.

The Raiders regained the lead less than halfway through the second quarter with a goal from sophomore Sara Vosburg. Not long after, the Golden Bears found the back of the net to tie up the contest.

Vosburg scored her second goal with four minutes left in the half, but Kutztown squeezed in two more goals to lead Shippensburg by one heading into halftime.

KU entered the final two quarters with a ton of momentum, pulling away early in the third quarter.

Vosburg led the Raiders with two goals. Seasock added one. Seifried and freshman Shannon Wood had the only SU assist; Seifried also added three draw controls.

Senior Julianne Capozzoli and sophomore Annie Rathgeb each grabbed three groundballs.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Vosburg tallied 13 saves. It is the third game this season she finished with 10 or more saves.

Kutztown was led by Sam Graf, who contributed four goals, 12 draw controls and eight ground balls.

SU returns to Robb Sports Complex Saturday at 1 p.m. to face No. 3 West Chester.
