STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team dropped both legs of a doubleheader against nationally-ranked East Stroudsburg on Friday, 2-0 and 17-1, at Creekview Park.

Shippensburg (16-11, 4-4 PSAC East) notched 15 base hits in its doubleheader against a tough Warriors team.

East Stroudsburg (20-4, 4-1) gave up just one earned run, while recording 11 strikeouts and just six walks.

East Stroudsburg registered the game's first run in the third, with Mike Kelly scoring on an RBI-single from Ben Piripavel.

Matt Ervolina extended the Warriors lead in the sixth, blasting a solo home run to left field.

Sophomore
Bryce Herb went 2-for-3 at the plate, recording a pair of singles.

Noah Nabholz pitched all six innings in Game 1, allowing four hits and striking out four batters.

East Stroudsburg got the better of the Raiders pitching staff, scoring 17 unanswered runs to put the game out of reach.

Sawyer Whitaker, who made his collegiate debut as the SU backstop, recorded his first two career hits in Game 2.

Brock Piper scored Shippensburg's sole run and registered a pair of doubles.

Tony Falvo each recorded two hits in the contest as well. Falvo had the team's lone RBI on an infield single.

J.T. Weaver was tacked with the loss, pitching the first three innings for the Raiders.

Shippensburg will return to Fairchild Field on Sunday to complete the series with East Stroudsburg. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
