SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team opened its season Wednesday with a hard-fought loss to No. 15 Seton Hill, 11-7, on a sunny afternoon at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (0-1) started off strong, earning a 2-0 lead early with goals from graduate
Hannah Seifried and freshman
Ali Pioli. SU led 4-1 after the first quarter.

SU maintained a 5-4 lead at the half, but Seton Hill (1-1) outscored the Raiders 6-0 in the third quarter to swing the momentum.

Seifried and Pioli lead the Raiders with two goals each. Pioli, in her collegiate debut, combined with Seifried for eight draw controls. Seifried led the team in draw controls with five.

Sophomore
Sara Vosburg led the team in assists with two and points with three. Freshman
Keegan Dings added a team-high three groundballs and a goal in her collegiate debut.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Kayla Vosburg ended the game with 15 saves – two short of her career high.

Conlan Piper led the Griffins with three goals, while Mila Udovicic added seven assists and eight points. Seton Hill goalkeeper Kyleigh Hessian ended the game with eight saves.Â

Shippensburg returns to action at noon Saturday when it hosts Frostburg State at Robb Sports Complex.
