SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) battle to Seton Hill, 70-59, on Saturday afternoon at Heiges Field House.

Bella Chimienti all reached double figures for Shippensburg (1-6, 0-2 PSAC). George was two short of her career high with 22 points while adding eight rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Colbert finished with 12 points, going 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. Chimienti reached double figures for the third consecutive game with 11 points. Her seven rebounds marked a new career high. Sophomore
Makayla Foddrell also set a personal high with nine rebounds on the day.
Seton Hill (4-3, 2-0) finished the game with 23 points off turnovers and 18 second-chance points from 22 offensive rebounds. Christiane Frye, the PSAC's second-leading scorer, and Helene Cowan each scored 16 points.
A 7-0 run to open the game by Seton Hill allowed the Griffins to control the lead throughout the first quarter. Graduate

Alexis Buie ended the run with consecutive baskets to cut the deficit to three, but the Griffins used six threes in the frame to take a 31-18 lead into the second.
Shippensburg used a strong defensive effort in the second quarter to bring the score back within single digits by halftime. Seton Hill extended its lead to 34-18 before the Raiders hit an 8-0 scoring run to cut the Griffins' lead in half. The Raiders held the visitors to just five points through the first seven minutes of the second quarter. Four free throws from George and a big three by junior Colbert got SU within four points, but a heaved three at the buzzer by the Griffins banked in to give Seton Hill a 43-36 lead at the half.
Quick baskets by Buie and George put Shippensburg within one possession to start the second half. The Griffins answered with a 13-2 scoring run to regain their double-digit lead at 56-42. The Raiders chipped away again, bringing the score back to 60-53 with a buzzer beater by George to end the third quarter.
A basket by George to open the fourth cut the deficit to five points, but that was the only Raider score through the first five minutes as the Griffins took a 65-55 lead with 4:36 remaining. Seton Hill finished a strong defensive quarter, only allowing six points by the Raiders in the final 10 minutes.
The visitors shot 6-of-13 (46 percent) from three-point range in the first quarter but went 2-of-31 (6.4 percent) the rest of the contest. Overall, Seton Hill shot 18 percent (8-of-44) from three-point range.
SU travels to Chestnut Hill on Wednesday with tip off at 7 p.m.
