SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Shippensburg University sophomore setter
Kearstin Davis was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.
Kearstin Davis centered a Shippensburg team that went 2-0 this week to secure the No. 1 seed in the PSAC East heading into the postseason. In seven sets played, Davis totaled 73 assists, 16 digs, five kills, two blocks, and an a service ace.
In a sweep of East Stroudsburg on Friday to claim the tiebreaker for the top spot in the division, Davis posted 36 assists and guided SU to an efficient overall team hitting percentage of .206; she also contributed five digs, four kills, and an ace. On Saturday, in a four-set victory over Kutztown, the sophomore recorded her 19th double-double of the season, consisting of 37 assists and 11 digs.
Davis has now totaled the second-most assists of any player in the conference this season with 1,082—a number that also ranks top 20 in the nation.
This marks Davis's third PSAC weekly award of the season, having previously won Athlete of the Week on Sep. 5 and Defensive Athlete of the Week on Oct. 23. The Raiders finish the season with two total Athlete of the Week recognitions and six total Defensive Athlete of the Week recognitions.
