SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team shutout East Stroudsburg, 1-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match Saturday afternoon at David See Field.
Shippensburg (4-12-0, 4-10-0 PSAC East) had just two shots on goal in the match, but used them effectively, with one being the difference in the 32nd minute. Junior
Jenna Folmar cut into midfield before passing the ball up ahead for freshman
Gabrielle Walker, who shot the ball right under the arms of goalie Emmy Clarkson into the center of the net for the 1-0 lead.
East Stroudsburg (10-3-3, 8-3-3) amassed seven corners opposed to Shippensburg's two, but senior goalie
Kendra Barlow kept the Warriors out of the net with five saves. Barlow recorded her second consecutive shutout of the season, with the first coming against Mansfield a week ago.
Walker continued her strong performance, scoring her third goal of the season, all coming in the last four games. She also contributed an assist in Shippensburg's victory on Wednesday at Millersville.
The Raiders have a three-match winning streak for the first time since 2019. It is the first time that SU has posted three consecutive shutout wins since 2016, and the first time it has recorded three consecutive 1-0 victories since 2013.
SU will compete this Tuesday in its home finale in a matchup against Shepherd at David See Field. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.
