SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team dropped its home finale on Tuesday, as visiting Shepherd posted a 4-1 victory over the Raiders in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at David See Field.
Shippensburg (4-13-0, 4-11-0 PSAC East) was even with Shepherd (7-5-5, 5-5-5) at halftime. Freshman
Gabrielle Walker scored her fourth goal in the last five matches in the 19th minute after finishing a feed from junior
Jenna Folmar. That strike countered a goal at the seven-minute mark by Lydia Gable after an initial shot by Sara Hohn was stopped.
The visitors scored just 24 seconds into the second half to start a three-goal second half. Hohn converted a penalty after it had initially looked like the Rams scored in the run of play, but a foul in the box was deemed to have preceded the goal.
Shepherd benefited from an own goal in the 62nd minute and Gable converted another rebound in the 77th minute to round out the scoring.
The Rams posted an 11-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-2 margin in corner kicks. Senior
Kendra Barlow made several diving stops and finished with eight saves.
SU will wrap its season at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Bloomsburg.
