The Shippensburg University women's soccer team preserved its second shutout win in as many matches Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory at Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern division match at Pucillo Field.
Shippensburg (3-12-0, 3-10-0 PSAC East) scored the first and only goal of the match in the 25th minute, coming from senior
Nicole Tormann. After a Millersville kick to midfield, senior
Sofia Pittas sent the ball up to freshman
Gabrielle Walker, who passed it into the box to Tormann, who launched the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
It was Tormann's first career game-winning goal and just her second collegiate goal – her first came in the previous meeting with Millersville back on Sept. 27.
Millersville (5-7-3, 5-7-2) held a strong advantage in corner kicks, totaling nine compared to Shippensburg's one. Junior goalie
Morgan Molyneaux held against a strong Marauder attack, making seven saves.
Molyneaux recorded her first shutout of the season and the fourth of her career. Her seven saves are tied for the second-highest total she has accumulated in a match this season.
Shippensburg's victory is its first over Millersville since 2019, a 1-0 win at Pucillo Field. The Marauders had been unbeaten (3-0-2) in their last five matches with the Raiders entering Wednesday night.
The Raiders will return to David See Field this Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. matchup against East Stroudsburg.
